Pinterest

Another new social networking sharing type thingy to get to grips with:

Am finding my way about but am so far quite liking browsing other people's boards and nicking their ideas!

It also links to Twitter and Facebook, so effectively killing two birds there.

UPDATE:  OMG am totally addicted to this site!  It's worse than facebook or twitter (and my twitter addiction usually only lasts a few days before I get bored).  Even my guilty Daily Mail social page addiction has been superseded.  I just can't get enough Pinterest - it's the pictures that do it.  Pictures of inspiring, gorgeous, girlie things.  I wonder if it will ever get taken over by men, then it'll be full of pictures of cars and spanners and things and not cake, shoes and pretty thin people.

Ideas...

Was having a look over the Mollie Makes website and came across this blog www.craftaholicsanonymous.net which has a treasure trove of projects to have a crack at.  May never leave the house again...

A need to knit

I'm waiting for some wool I ordered from my favourite online wool supplier www.hejhog-uk.com but it hasn't arrived yet.  I've got a real urge to knit at the moment!  I'm about to embark on two Debbie Bliss projects (and still have one ongoing):

A peg bag (Mum's birthday present)

And a blanket for Number 2.

Nothing like setting yourself a couple of tight deadlines!

But I should be preparing for the forthcoming Buy it Baby fair on Saturday 22nd October at Otford.  So much to do!  Will just keep using the excuse that I need to wait for my new Tanya Whelan fabrics to arrive from Gone to Earth.  V excited!

A new line for the WP empire

Managed to find the time to finish off the design for the new WP ra-ra skirt:

(Just had to google 'ra ra skirt' to see if I'd made up the term, but even ASOS confirms it is valid.)

I think it's really cute and I really like the applique rose on the denim.  Will be trying it on my trusty, ever patient and enduring (as if!) model when she arrives home from nursery tonight.

Watch out for it and other versions on the website soon.

Bean bags

Made these today.  Probably should be called chick pea bags.  Really cute.  Think they must weigh in at 250g each, so Erin will only be allowed to chuck them outside.  Going to make some skittles from old juice bottles filled with water and food colouring.

Quite excited...

May try to sell a few at the Otford Buy it Baby fair in October.

Poor neglected blog!

I think it's being pregnant and having a distinct lack of energy at the moment.  Poor old blog has been neglected.  As has sewing to be honest.

Some baking has been done, Nigella Slut's brownies, blondies and blueberry muffins all taste good, although we're sticking with the brownies in the Winder household as they got voted top banana for both slut-like decadence and overall taste.

Couple of posts coming up on new sewing achievements.

The blind for number 2's room is almost finished.  It does fit and it will do the job well, so just got to convince Mr WP to drill some holes (always a chore) and we're all set.  Maybe a batch of brownies will do the trick...

Hello Ladies that Cake!

Had a really enjoyable time at the F&F sale today.  Bagged some bargains and met a lot of lovely people.  Have just had a taste of my Ladies that Cake crocodile mini cake and boy it was good!  Might not last the night for the daughter to taste in the morning...

Here is an action shot of one of the ladies and I sharing a stall at the sale:

Oh dear, Mr WP has demolished the rest.  Sorry Erin.

I do like...

... the new Cath Kidston prints, particularly the Country Rose but I just don't think I can justify £65 on another bag...

And Mr WP would most definitely kill me!

What to do with a overripe banana?

A question mums generally struggle with on a weekly basis.  You know how it goes: "What would you like for pudding?", "Banana."  "Well I haven't got any as last time you didn't eat them, how about a petits filous?"  etc etc.

So, we buy bananas and she doesn't eat them, surprise surprise.

Here is an excellent recipe for chocolate banana muffins, care of the gastro tart we all love to hate, Nigella.

Makes 12

3 very ripe/overripe bananas (I only had 2)
125ml vegetable oil
2 large eggs
100g soft light brown sugar (I didn't have any so used a combo of golden caster and some soft dark brown that's been lurking in the cupboard for a while)
225g plain flour
3 x 15ml tblsp best-quality cocoa powder, sifted (bourneville did the job ok)
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

line a 12 bun muffin tin with muffin cases (you don't say)

Nigella's instructions slightly simplified here:

Mash up bananas then use hand held mixer to beat in oil, then eggs, then sugar
Chuck the flour, cocoa powder, bicard into a bowl then sieve the lot into the banana mix
Beat it all together with the mixer
Spoon into the cases and bake at 200 degrees c for 15-20 mins

Yummy!

I must say, they were the best muffins I've ever made - nice and spongy as opposed to crumbly.  Chocolate chips would add another dimension.  Am going to have a crack at adapting this recipe for other flavours as the texture was just spot on.

Poor lone leftover muffin, aw.

Expect a flurry...

Lots to post today - lots of catching up to do - been too busy to blog!
